D/3® Version 14.0 Released
On July 30, 2010, NovaTech Automation officially released D/3® Version 14.0 on four (4) operating systems: Windows XP, Windows 7 (32 bit), Windows Server 2003 and the 64 bit Windows 2008 R2. This was the first release of D/3 on a Microsoft Windows 64 bit operating system. This followed the initial release of version 14.0 on Windows 2003 which was successfully installed at a customer site in Europe back in June. Since D/3 Version 14.0 was released, NovaTech Automation has had several successful installations in the U.S. and Europe.
D/3 Version 14.0 has many new features to assist our customers in running their plants more effectively. The release of D/3 Version 14.0 incorporates many important security, confi guration, system, optimization, and 8000 Series I/O enhancements. These enhanced features improve product quality, operational e fficiency, and ultimately your bottom line.These include, but are not limited to:
D/3 Version 14.0 takes full advantage of Microsoft® Windows® security management. Passwords are no longer managed on the D/3. Authentication is done at the local computer or domain controller level. Privileges are still managed in the D/3.
Enhanced logging records operator and engineering activity in a more complete manner. Events include the user’s name, computer/console, time, date, before and after values.
The new Fault Tolerant Active Batch List is more robust and features automatic re-synchronization. Simpli fied Loop Tuning Tune loops from any D/3 console using the intuitive and accurate D/3 Loop Optimizer product. Quickly implement tunings and automatically save values to the PCM and CDCM UDB fi le.
More Intelligent Alarming
Reduce nuisance alarms by implementing time based dead bands on certain analog EPNs. Version 14.0 has the ability to delay analog alarms for a predetermined number of seconds. Users can implement this feature to reduce alarms on noisy analog EPNs
D/3 Version 14.0 contains a number of 8000 Series I/O enhancements such as
- 1:6 Redundancy
- Software support for 16 point, 24VDC output module and 16 point, 120VAC input module (in version 12.3-2 but not tested)
- HART® instrument status as D/3® warning and failure alarms
- 505 I/O to 8000 I/O upgrade solutions (hardware and documentation)
- 8000 I/O configuration in Architect without MOST Workbench
- Variable pulse output with NT-8129-IO-DC and NT-8124-DO-DC modules

The initial release of Version 14.0 on Windows 2003 was successfully installed at Kemira in Rotterdam in June. Kemira has been running their plant on Version 14.0 since June 19th.
